En: Azymuth return! Their latest album Fênix, released with London based label Far Out Recordings in 2016, saw the Brazilian mavericks explode back into the international scene, proving once again why they're widely considered to be Brazil's most succefull band. Since the passing of keyboard maestro Jose Roberto Bertrami in 2012, remaining members Ivan Conti and Alex Malheiros have worked tirelessly to keep the spirit of Azymuth alive. Now in their 70s they show absolutely no sign of slowing down, and are looking ahead to another European tour in Fall 2017.

Formed in 1968 in Rio de Janeiro, Azymuth are responsible for carving out an entirely new sound, fusing jazz-funk with samba to create their own unique genre, referred to as 'samba doido' (crazy samba).

On the new record, which Azymuth will perform alongside classics like 'Jazz Carnival', 'Dear Limmertz' and 'Partido Alto' from the seventies onwards, they journey through the full spectrum of their brilliantly coloured expressionist funk, with all the cosmic energy and masterful musicianship you'd expect from the world's greatest three-man orchestra.

Fênix also marked a new era as the Azymuth trio was complete once again, by special guest keyboardist Kiko Continentino. A hugely talented pianist, composer and arranger, Kiko has worked with the likes of Milton Nascimento, Gilberto Gil and Djavan, and the fresh energy and inspiration he has brought to the group in the studio and on stage, is undeniable... Azymuth rise from the ashes!
