EN: In Songs of our Mothers, traditional and other Afghan folk songs are taken on a journey from East to West, mirroring Soroor's journey. Discriminated for her gender, singing and ethnic background, she settled in London as a refugee and started musical collaborations with artists, such as RESET 2019 trumpetist Yazz Ahmed. A powerful album for ´those women around the world whose image has been erased, and whose voice has been forbidden´. FR: Pour Songs of our Mothers, la chanteuse afghane Elaha Soroor et le duo Kefaya ont collaboré pour créer un album hypnotisant, mêlant morceaux traditionnelles et folkloriques afghanes aux influences jazz et électro. Victime de discrimination en raison de son sexe, son origine ethnique et sa musique, la chanteuse a fui son pays et s'est installé à Londres. Réfugiée dans cette grande ville, elle utilise sa musique pour se faire une renommée et pour collaborer avec de nombreux artistes, dont le trompettiste de RESET 2019, Yazz Ahmed. Le nouvel album de Soroor est une dédicace aux ´femmes du monde entier dont l'image a été effacée, et dont la voix a été interdite´. |
